A Companion of Jesus

Looking unto Jesus.

When I consider you my Lord

I am undone.

Your beauty is marred by my own hand

Your holiness sullied by my reckless tongue.

Yet, you have set in me the seed of life

Which you alone planted out of love for me

And which you tend and carefully toil over

until the harvest.

You endured my mocking lips,

My spiteful tearing at your beard

The nails I have carried so long

I thrust them into you.

Yet you have set in me the seed of life

Which you alone planted out of love for me

and which you tend and carefully toil over

until the Harvest.

What Joy is this that is set before you

By which you endure such shame…for me?

At the right hand of the Throne of God

There He stands for me

Upon his hands his feet his side

Are the wounds of sacrificial love…for me!

And yet you have set in me the seed of life

Which you alone planted out of love for me

And which you tend and carefully toil over

until the harvest.

O let me run the race ahead

Knowing there are others too

who having given up everything, even life itself

have gained the prize in you.

Let me always consider you my Lord

For in you I am made always new

The seed you planted out of love for me

Is ready now for the harvest.

I look to you………….
