  1. Thank you Michael. There is certainly so much to read and ponder here in the mailings that I have received from you.

I remain thankful for the information on Thomas Merton and think of him as the author of my conversion to Christ.

Reading Merton has made me strong. At times people tell me I need to be more humble in my spiritual life but I

know were I have been and therefore, strength is important to me. I think a spirituality that we adopt should make

us strong. I think of St. Francis of Assissi and how he struggled for his strength to simply survive. We often forget that

Saints like St. Francis were close to death in the beatings that he received from his father, a parental figure.

Merton also had great strength to overcome is addictions and therefore I have great respect for these two men of

God. When I am working with people who have complex problems I noticed that these two figures give them great

    strength.

    Blessings

    Your sister, Mary
