A Companion of Jesus

The Father’s Heart

The Father’s Heart.

(A poem from the heart of the Father who was rejected by two sons.)

(Luke 15:11- 32)

Child,

Reject me not

Though the world calls you follow.

Reject me not

Though your heart cries out for pleasures.

Reject me not

In the passion of your youth.

But, should I lose you for a moment,

Or your rejection of me stands for years;

Know this for all eternity

I reject you not. Do not fear.

Child,

Reject me not

in the self-made sanctuary of your heart.

Reject me not

nor my love which welcomes home those children lost.

Know this for all eternity

I reject you not.

The Name

What is this image
that you set before me?
Who is this idol that you identify yourself with?
In whose name was it fashioned? Not mine!

I know you (my child)
For I formed you in the womb
In my image
I created you.
I have engraved you on the palm of my hand.

Where are you?
What image do you now cover yourself with?
Naked
Rebellious
Lost and disobedient child.
Hear my word., Your Father is calling you.

Know my name
For in it you will find your true self,
Life,
Freedom and
Peace.
I am who I am.

Precious Child,
Your heart has been darkened
by this image driven mindset which
the world applauds claiming to be wise,
yet, exchanging my Glory for
Image. Image. Image!

What image is this that makes you run
and hide from me?
What image is this that imprisons you
in the captivity of self,
exchanging truth for a lie and
light for darkness?

Can you be better?
More holy?
More strong?
More overcoming?
More caring?
More feeling?
More esteemed?
Can you be that….. image?

O how you desire it;
To live up to it,
To encapsulate it,
To revel in it…..!!
But it is a lie!
It is not you my Child.

The enemy has pursed you,
but then, so have We.
This image you seek and have sought after
makes you captive through a lie.
Let my truth now set you free.

Stand up!
Throw off this false self
which has no light or truth.
Look to me.
For in my light you will find light for your path

Rejoice and see!
Know my name, which is in you
I am who I am,
and
You are made in my image alone.

I am the image of the invisible God
and I am your maker and redeemer.
At my name every knee will bow.
Know now my name in you my Child,
It is Salvation!

And when they ask you
who you are?
Don’t look to what you want to be.
For that image is an idol.
Stand up in my name
and say,
‘I am who I am has spoken and in Him
I am me’.

Children of the King.

Twisted. Bent.
Bowed and broken.
Battered. Marred.
Forgotten. Forsaken.

Lost and Lonely.
Lewd and Loud.
Loveless. Lifeless.
Lame and Lowly.

These the children of the King!

Hungry. Naked.
Sick. Imprisoned.
Thirsting..thirsty..
Is my Jesus.

See.. his eyes..all compassion.
Not condoning nor condemning.
Never judging. All embracing.
Quieting us with his love.

Broken. Beaten.
Bleeding. Bound.
Wanting. Waiting
In wounded love….the children’s King is crucified.

Twisted. Bent.
Bowed and broken.
Battered. Marred.
Forgotten. Forsaken.

Forged in the furnace
Love…Forgiving.
Buried in earth’s dark tomb,
fallen seed of awesome grace!

Twisted. Bent.
Bowed and broken.
Battered. Marred.
Forgotten. Forsaken.

Morning’s Sun cuts through the stone of death.
Seed once fallen, now blooms in flower
Incense arising, its scent proclaims the dawning of a new day.
Beauty now for ashes given.

These the children of the King!

Twisted. Bent.
Bowed and broken.
Battered. Marred.
Forgotten. Forsaken. – Never again!

Hallelujah! Children of the King!

A rainbow dancing unseen glorious God found on a clothes line..

Unseen God
Holy God
Sovereign God
Abba
Father

None can see you.
The Heavens declare you
But it is your Son whose eyes burn with your love
who reveals you..

Your Sun lights up the world
Your Son melts the frozen hearts
Your Sun raises the heads of flowers
Your Son makes a pathway through the waters…giving life

Unseen God
Holy God
Sovereign God
Abba
Father

You pour out your holy rain
upon a desolate dry land
And amidst this deluge
your Sun shines through
dancing with every droplet,
Laughing with every tear of heaven

And as we look up
to see the unknowable
we are greeted with the beauty of the rainbow
which invades us
And comes to abide in our hearts – transforming us

Such Glory!
Such beauty!
Such richness!
Such power!
Such might!

Unseen God
Holy God
Sovereign God
Abba
Father

The Sun makes visible the invisible.
The beauty of your cascading colours
penetrating,
ever renewing.
In your light we see light

Your Spirit pours down your tears of love and
we see such incomparable beauty
that we are undone!

And the Angels cry

Holy

Holy

Holy

is the Lord!.

One

One
There is none other Good,

He is the only One.

No other Rock, the only One,

Only true Light, no other One.

No other name, no not one,

Jesus alone, the only Son.

Shepherd God, the Holy One,

Saviour, Lamb, no other one.

Only Counsellor, Holy One,

The Dove, the Fire, no other One.

Breath of God, reveals the Son,

Spirit of Wisdom, the only One.

Perfect Father, the only One,

Eternal God, Three-in-one.

Hear, O Israel, your God is One,

The only One, no other One.

Comfort my people

Thoughts on Isaiah. 40: 1-5

Comfort – comfort my people
Says the Lord
Comfort the comfortless
Comfort the broken
Comfort the hurting

Speak words of mercy
Over the condemnatory lie and
Tenderly raise up the fallen children of Eve,
Enfold them in loves embrace

Dance with them
As water in a desert
Ushers in new life.
Comfort – comfort my people
Says the Lord.

But How O Lord
Do I break the rock that is my heart?
What hammer may impart
Such a blow to penetrate its
Callused shell?

Comfort – comfort my people
says the Lord
For I came to serve and give my life –
The way –
in which you too must – walk.
Follow me!

And love will make straight the way
for me to enter in.
And love will be a highway
Paved with grace upon grace
That breaks the callused heart of stone.
So that I may therein dwell.

And every valley shall be raised in love
And every mountain laid low in love
And every heart that’s bound
Shall be released in love’s shared song
wherein your broken and wounded soul shall be released.

Comfort – comfort my people
Says the Lord.

…..And the glory of the Lord will be revealed.

New Springtime

No conditions, No additions,
No religion
No command..save Love

Like a flower buried
beneath the heavy dark soil
I am crushed
by my religious observance.

Where is love?
How do I achieve it?
Wanting freedom
I am entombed in death.

But, what is this that falls
upon my head
then flows into my heart?
The Water of Life…
Refreshing my soul
Without my doing.. the son draws me to life.

It is winter no more.

I was blind, but now I see.

I was blind but now I see..
The colour, the hue, the vista
The raindrop
The snowflake
The leaf, the bud
The Water dancing in cascades of light

I was blind.. but now I see.
For He opened my heart
and removed the veil
which had darkened my view
and bent the light in me.

I was blind.. but now I see.
His eyes in mine
look out and search within,
his eyes of flaming fire
they burn within my soul
searing my blindness with his love.

I was blind.. but now I see..
Each persons beauty and my own – transformed,
as a rose opening its petals
to the eye of the sun
revealing in itself the treasury
of its creator.

I was blind but now I see..
Beauty out of ashes formed.
delicately enticing my eye
to behold his gaze
which like a sun’s ray rests on me.

My eye is but a window
to the treasure-house within
wherein all sight is
enraptured in love,
for Christ now lives in me!

I was blind but now…I see.

Magnificat

The Word that made me

in me he came to dwell.

Without a touch of man,

My womb now ark of God.

The messenger appeared

and told me of this joy;

That the Lord- Our Holy God

In me would fully grace.

His words, fearful and compelling

Enticed my heart

my life, my all

to be alone his dwelling.

Fear not said he

and calmed my soul

from fear of man

and fear of death.

My body to

the word was given.

My life as mother,

his fame my Jesus – my son.

Magnificat! Anima mea Dominum.

(My soul glorifies the Lord)

Looking unto Jesus.

When I consider you my Lord

I am undone.

Your beauty is marred by my own hand

Your holiness sullied by my reckless tongue.

Yet, you have set in me the seed of life

Which you alone planted out of love for me

And which you tend and carefully toil over

until the harvest.

You endured my mocking lips,

My spiteful tearing at your beard

The nails I have carried so long

I thrust them into you.

Yet you have set in me the seed of life

Which you alone planted out of love for me

and which you tend and carefully toil over

until the Harvest.

What Joy is this that is set before you

By which you endure such shame…for me?

At the right hand of the Throne of God

There He stands for me

Upon his hands his feet his side

Are the wounds of sacrificial love…for me!

And yet you have set in me the seed of life

Which you alone planted out of love for me

And which you tend and carefully toil over

until the harvest.

O let me run the race ahead

Knowing there are others too

who having given up everything, even life itself

have gained the prize in you.

Let me always consider you my Lord

For in you I am made always new

The seed you planted out of love for me

Is ready now for the harvest.

I look to you………….
