A Beautiful Gospel – Two Tellings by Brian Zahnd and Brad Jersak

Here are two wonderful presentations of, ‘A Beautiful Gospel’!

Brian Zahnd and Brad Jersak both show through this simple approach/telling, how we Christians have too often made the ‘Good News’ not so good..but then they show/tell it as it is..the greatest news of all!  A Beautiful Gospel indeed!

Bringing the Spirit Through Leaving

It is often in our absence that the Spirit of God manifests itself. When Jesus left his disciples he said: “It is for your own good that I am going, because unless I go, the Paraclete [the Spirit] will not come to you. However, when the Spirit of truth comes he will lead you to the complete truth” (John 16: 7;13). It was only in Jesus’ absence that his friends discovered the full meaning of his presence. It was only in his absence that they completely understood his words and experienced full communion with him; and it was only in his absence that they could gather in a community of faith, hope, and love.

When we claim for ourselves that we come to our friends in the Name of Jesus – that through us Jesus becomes present to them – we can trust that our leaving will also bring them the Spirit of Jesus. Thus, not only our presence but also our absence becomes a gift to others.

Pope Francis

I extend my heartfelt joy to our Roman Catholic Sisters and Brothers on the appointment of Pope Francis. The Companions of Jesus together, united around the world, prays with thanksgiving, sincerely asking Holy Spirit to guide and direct Pope Francis and the Church, into a new era, overshadowed by the grace, mercy and favour of our risen Lord, Jesus Christ.

Laughter – Good for the Soul.

If your Christianity is marked by a long face that is absent of joy…then this blog may help reunite you with the tender, terrifying, playful, wonderful God you’ve replaced with religious duties and rigid rule keeping. Come and laugh with me….may the joy of the Lord be your strength!!

November 2012

An Irish Priest decided that a visual demonstration would add emphasis to his Sunday homily.

Four worms were placed into four separate jars.

The first worm was put into a container of alcohol.
The second worm was put into a container of cigarette smoke.
The third worm was put into a container of chocolate syrup.
The fourth worm was put into a container of good clean soil.

At the conclusion of the sermon, the Priest reported the following results:

The first worm in alcohol – Dead.
The second worm in cigarette smoke – Dead
The third worm in chocolate syrup – Dead
The fourth worm in good clean soil – Alive!

So the priest asked the congregation – “What did you learn from this demonstration?”

Michael was sitting in the back of the church, quickly raised his hand and said,

“As long as you drink, smoke and eat chocolate, you won’t have worms!”
